The Tailings Center

SHORT COURSES

The Tailings Center is restructuring its Fundamentals of Tailings Management Short Course series to meet the evolving needs of the industry
The Tailings Center recently completed a comprehensive review of its educational programs, resulting in a strategic shift in our approach. While our virtual short courses in tailings engineering showed early potential, they encountered notable challenges. As a result, we are discontinuing the virtual format and moving to a more effective, in-person training model.

The current plan is for the Professional Certificate Course(s) to be a focused, one-week in-person program offering Professional Development Hours (PDHs) or Continuing Education Units (CEUs), held at one of the universities in 2025, during a period that allows for field trips. The cost of the course is still to be determined.

The Tailings Center developed short course content that provided registrants with an understanding of the Fundamentals of Tailings Management. The target audience for these courses are those who seek additional basic knowledge on tailings management.

Content of the previously developed short courses will be integrated in the new course(s) offerings. The content of the six previously offered course is shown below.
